BURN PERMITS.png

If you are planning on doing any open burning in the Town of Stowe this year, you will need a local burning permit.

The State of Vermont requires a burning permit to burn any leaves brush, dead wood, tree cuttings and weeds.

In addition, it is illegal to burn any treated, painted, pressed, or finished wood, plywood, paper, cardboard, plastics, tires, garbage, tar paper, household trash and asphalt shingles.

It is AGAINST THE LAW to burn anything other than natural, un-processed items. Natural un-treated processed wood can be burned with an approved permit from the state of Vermont ANR by contacting John Wakefield at 802-279-5674. Note local Town of Stowe permit still required with proof of ANR permit.

Permits will be issued at the front counter inside Arandas Citgo, 745 S Main St (Corner of Sylvan Park Rd).  They will be issued between the hours of 7:00 AM & 10:30 AM, 7 days a week.

Permits are only valid for one day (the day of the burn); a new permit must be attained for each day of burning.

All permits should be filled out with the correct information and a copy shall remain with the person burning, at the burn site.  Absolutely no fires should be left unattended and must be extinguished by 6:00 pm.

Any questions can be referred to: Fire Warden, Scott Reeves at 802-839-6045.

Thank you for your cooperation and enjoy a safe burning season.
