Brooke O’Steen – Stowe’s New Chief of Police

I am pleased to announce that the Stowe Police Department has entered a new chapter of leadership with Chief Brooke O’Steen at the helm starting on May 5, 2025.
Brooke came to work with the Town of Stowe following a law enforcement career that spanned thirteen years at the United States Park Police in Washington D.C. where she held progressively responsible positions, including as Sergeant for a squad of twenty-two officers, prior to her move to Vermont in 2015. Upon arrival in Vermont Brooke worked straight away to obtain her Vermont certifications and was employed by the University of Vermont Police Services.
Brooke started with Stowe Police Department as a part-time officer in 2016 and full-time paramedic with Stowe Emergency Medical Services in 2017. She was promoted to full-time Sergeant with Stowe PD in 2019 where she supported the community and officers until she became Morristown’s Chief of EMS in July 2024, while continuing to serve part-time with Stowe PD. Brooke is the recipient of the VT ALS Provider of the Year Award in 2022 and Law Enforcement Award in 2023.
I look forward to Brooke’s continued contributions. She is a skilled officer with twenty-two years in law enforcement and is an engaged leader who inspires her team to achieve their full potential. I am optimistic about what lies ahead under Brooke’s leadership as the new Chief of Stowe PD.
I appreciate the time and commitment of the Interview Advisory Committee: Drew Clymer, Neil Van Dyke, Norm Willliams, Scott Brinkman, Scott Reeves, Maura Wieler, Sgt. Dustin Pray, and Morristown Police Chief Jason Luneau.
Brooke and her wife Lindsay have been committed to serving their communities in a public safety capacity through policing, emergency medical services and firefighting since moving to Vermont in 2015. They are proud parents of two wonderful dogs, Spud and Ally, who they enjoy exploring the hills of Vermont with during all seasons.
Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Chief Brooke O’Steen.
