Stowe 2050-Town Plan Update Process

Every eight years, Vermont towns must update their municipal plans —Stowe’s current Town Plan expires in 2026.  But this time, we’re not just doing an update — we’re encouraging the community to think deep. The Planning Commission, with support from the Department of Planning & Zoning, is inviting the entire community to imagine what we want Stowe to be in 2050 — and what it will take to get there.

This comprehensive plan update is our chance to dream, define, and design the Stowe of the future. What do we want to maintain, evolve, and transform over the next eight years and beyond? How do we strike the right balance between visitors and residents? How do we make Stowe more livable and affordable, and what does our ideal transportation network look like?

Throughout 2025, the Planning Commission will be working closely with municipal boards, commissions, and community partners to prepare plan updates. We’ll use the community input collected through the Stowe 2050 engagement efforts to shape the vision — together. This page will be updated regularly with draft plan elements as they’re developed and reviewed.
